Yamaha BBP34 4 string Made in Japan

Some basses try to be everything to everyone. The Yamaha BBP34 isn't one of them — and that's precisely what makes it exceptional. This is a bass built on conviction: the belief that when the fundamentals are executed at the highest level, nothing else is required.

Crafted in Yamaha's legendary Japanese facility, the BBP34 carries the kind of build quality that simply cannot be faked. Every joint, every fret, every component reflects decades of Japanese lutherie tradition the attention to detail is evident the moment you pick it up. The neck-through construction provides seamless upper-register access and sustain that blooms naturally, while the alder body delivers that characteristic warmth and punch that sits perfectly in any mix without fighting for space.

Tonally, the BBP34 speaks with authority. The Yamaha YGD pickups — voiced specifically for this instrument capture the full harmonic spectrum with clarity and definition across every string.

The playability is effortless. The neck profile is fast and comfortable across the full 34" scale and feels natural whether you're walking jazz lines, locking in a gospel groove, laying down a studio R&B track or anchoring a full band live. This is a bass that gets out of your way and lets you play.

The BBP34 is not a bass that chases trends or loads you up with features designed to impress on a spec sheet. It is instead a definitive statement about what a professional bass should be — built without compromise using the best tone woods, voiced with integrity, and made to last a lifetime of serious playing.

For the bassist who knows exactly what they need, the Yamaha BBP34 Made in Japan delivers it completely.

6-Bolt Miter Neck Joint

This design pulls the neck tightly into the body, creating a more unified structure. Compared to a standard bolt-on joint, the miter system delivers superior transfer of string vibration, resulting in greater sustain, clarity, and responsiveness.

YGD Custom V7 Pickups

These Alnico-powered pickups produce a thick, articulate tone. Combined with the unique body construction, they provide an expressive, natural voice with excellent note definition.

Versatile Control Layout

Each BB Professional model includes two Volume knobs—one for each pickup—and a Master Tone control, giving players flexible shaping options for any style.

Vintage Plus Bridge

The Vintage Plus bridge offers the choice of stringing through the bridge or through the body. Body-through stringing uses a 45-degree angle for smoother tension and efficient vibration transfer.
Convertible brass saddles offer two tonal options: a rounder, softer response or a more angled, tighter attack. Brass saddles deepen the low end, while the steel bridge plate adds brightness. Stainless-steel screws and springs provide long-term durability.

5-Piece Neck

A maple and mahogany 5-piece construction delivers both strength and tonal balance. The bolt-on design gives quick attack and clarity, while the laminated build resists warping over time.

Neck Shape

The updated neck profile is slightly slimmer than previous BB generations, improving comfort for a wide range of playing styles.

Lightweight Tuners

Reduced-weight tuners improve the instrument’s overall balance and complement the more compact body design.

Initial Response Acceleration (I.R.A.)

Yamaha’s I.R.A. treatment simulates the natural “played-in” process by applying controlled vibrations during construction. This releases internal stresses in the wood and hardware, allowing the bass to sound open, mature, and responsive right out of the box.
