Richard Rose



Richard's teaching career has encompassed a range of esteemed educational institutions throughout Melbourne. He has shared his expertise with students at schools and institutions such as Beaconhills College, Kingswood College. He currently teaches at Northern College of Arts & Technology in Preston and Melbourne Polytechnic (Fairfield campus). Since 2013, Richard has been delivering high-quality lessons to students from all corners of Melbourne, providing valuable guidance and instruction to aspiring musicians in diverse communities.
 
With a temperament that is warm and patient, and a teaching style that is confident and relaxed, Richard is a mentor you want in your corner. He understands the intricacies involved in learning an instrument and centres his approach on what each student needs. He has first hand experience in how to correct technique, build good habits, strengthen foundational knowledge, as well as an in depth understanding of the function of the bass in various genres. All of these factors can improve each student’s self-belief and musicality as well as improve a performer’s confidence and self esteem.

Craig Strain offer lessons to bass players of all playing levels, beginner to Pro. KADE TURNER | Professional Bassist, Audio Engineer & Educator


G'day, I’m Kade—a professional bassist and passionate educator from Melbourne. Since 2018, I’ve operated kadeturner.com, helping players across the globe refine their bass technique, theory, and tone.

Experience: With 25 years in the industry, my career includes extensive session work and touring for multiple bands, including five years with Mammal. I have also collaborated on high-end custom builds at the Warwick factory in Germany. My content has reached millions globally via No Treble, BassTheWorld, Bass Musician Magazine, and my personal social media platforms (all accessible through my website).

Specialization: As an artist for Warwick, RockBoard, Gallien-Krueger, and DR Strings, I specialize in Technique & Tone Education, Gear Optimization, and a practical understanding of theory. I help bassists master the relationship between their hands and their gear to find their signature sound.

John Lebesis 
John Lebisis has been one of Melbourne’s most in-demand electric bassists and session musicians for nearly 2 decades. He has played with some of Australia’s top artists, including Marie Wilson, Kate Ceberano, Bo Jenkins, Matt Hetherington, and others. Aside from his work as a musician, John is a passionate educator with over 15 years of experience teaching several wide-ranging genres, improvisation, and other techniques. He regularly conducts clinics, masterclasses, and group coaching, as well as maintaining his private teaching studio. Students and working musicians of all levels seek his expertise to take them to the next level in their craft.

Mike Mathews 
Mike Mathews has a collective body of experience as a professional bassist spanning over four decades. His performing and recording credits encompass many styles,  from 1st-run hit musical theatre shows through to pop, jazz and funk.  These include artists such as Gene Pitney, The Seekers & Cilla Black, through to Joe Chindamo, Carl Orr's London Underground & Bob Vinier. His recording work includes over 30 albums, as well as a critically-acclaimed original album ‘Mosaic’.
