Ibanez UB804BUL Electric Upright Bass 

The upright bass sound — that deep, woody thump that sits under jazz, rockabilly, folk and acoustic gigs like nothing else — usually comes with a serious catch: a double bass is enormous, fragile, expensive, and a nightmare to transport. The Ibanez UB804 solves all of that in one stroke.

Built in the Ibanez Bass Workshop, the UB804 packs genuine upright tone and technique into a compact, solid-body instrument that fits in the included gig bag and travels in a hatchback. The familiar 34" scale means electric bass players can step into upright playing without relearning the fingerboard, while the fretless jatoba board with its conical compound radius is purpose-shaped for both arco (bowed) and pizzicato playing — the bow tracks cleanly across each string, and fingerstyle lines flow effortlessly.

The neck-through five-piece maple/walnut neck and maple body wings deliver impressive sustain and resonance for an instrument this portable, but the real magic is the AeroSilk piezo system. Working through the custom MR5 bridge with individually mounted saddles, it captures the airy, acoustic character of a true upright — responding to every nuance of touch whether you're bowing ballads or walking a swing line.

Ibanez completes the package properly: a custom TAMA Roadpro upright stand and a padded gig bag that carries bass, bow and stand together. This isn't a novelty — it's a genuine gigging instrument that opens up the upright world without the upright price tag or the station wagon.
