Dingwall NG2 4 Matte Gold Metallic
Built for one of modern musics most influential bass players, the Dingwall NG-2 is the signature model of Adam "Nolly" Getgood, the producer and former Periphery bassist whose tight, aggressive and crystal-clear tone has shaped a generation of heavy music. Nolly had been touring and recording with two Dingwall Combustions, and the NG takes everything he loved about both and rolls it into one seriously focused instrument.
The heart of any Dingwall is the Novax fanned-fret system, and it's what makes these basses sound and feel unlike anything else. On the NG-2 4-string, the scale runs from 36.25" on the E down to 34" on the G, giving the low end a tighter, punchier, more piano-like clarity while keeping the top strings slinky and comfortable. If you've never played a fanned fret before, you'll be surprised how natural it feels within minutes: the angled frets follow the natural sweep of your hand.
The alder body is lightweight and beautifully contoured, with the NG averaging around 4kg, so it's a joy to wear through a long set. It's paired with a bolt-on five-piece maple neck and maple fingerboard with 24 jumbo frets and a flat 9.45" radius for fast, effortless playing all the way up the neck.
Tonally, this thing is a beast. Two slanted Dingwall FD-3N neodymium pickups feed a Darkglass Tone Capsule preamp, dialled in specifically for modern heavy bass: bass, low-mid and high-mid controls let you sculpt everything from deep, round sub to the gnarly, cutting midrange growl Nolly is famous for. The four-way pickup selector gives you bridge alone, both pickups in series, both in parallel, or neck alone, and an active/passive switch rounds out a seriously versatile setup. It's tailor-made for djent, prog and metal, but it's just as comfortable in rock, fusion or anywhere you need definition and punch.
If you've been curious about Dingwall but wanted a more accessible way in, the NG-2 is the perfect entry point into one of the most respected names in modern bass. Come in and grab one off the wall. Once you've felt that low end, there's no going back.
